Queen of Summer

A poem I found while looking through some old writing.

Sunshine filters weakly,

In golden bars

Through the treetops

Gilding the forest floor

with scattered light.

As dappled and diverse

As the autumn leaves above

Beauty imbued with tragedy

Summers Ending has begun

In the land of eternal summer

She lies, alive

On a bower of golden leaves

In the arboreal palace.

Silence reigns here

her still visage greeted

By cast down eyes

and bent knees

And the steady trickle

of fluid grief

She is the land, embodied

her power wanes

Winter finds it's way in

And with it

Death

There is much to fear

Weep

Weep and pray

For the Queen of Summer
