Karate Competition
I just spent the day at my Karate Club's "Inter Club" competiton. My instructor, who is a 6th dan in shotokan and freestyle karate, runs quite a few clubs in our area and also is head instructor for a few clubs in and around Runcorn, near Liverpool. Every year we have a big competiton between everyone from all the clubs and it's pretty much the biggest event of our year.
Todays was pretty succesful - I won a First place in the Weapons Kata section with my Sai Swords and Heien Nidan. Our own club (Glenkens Karate club) picked up quite a few trophies too - some firsts, seconds and thirds in most of the categories. the team from the scottish clubs also won the Scotland v England competition at the end (5 -0!), which was another pleasant bonus.
I'm going to get hold of some photo's to post later (like an idiot I forgot to take my own camera), and hopefully even a video of me practicing my kata too.
I'm completely shattered now though - I was there to help set up at the start and there to help tidy up at the end as well as helping out all the way through with judging etc.
